Introduction
SavedTrips ("we", "us", "our") operates the SavedTrips mobile application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
- Account info: email address and display name, managed through AWS Cognito
- Trip data: trip names, destinations, dates, places, votes, itineraries, and budget settings
- Video links: URLs you submit for processing. We do not store the videos themselves — only the extracted place data and temporary frame captures, which are deleted within 24 hours
- Usage data: app interactions, feature usage, and crash reports (anonymized)
- Purchase data: transaction records processed through Apple or Google. We never store payment card details
How We Use Your Data
- To provide our core service: processing videos, extracting places, and generating itineraries
- To manage your account and upload credits
- To enable collaboration: sharing trip data with people you invite
- To improve the app through anonymized usage analytics
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not share your information with third parties except as described below.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted services to operate SavedTrips:
- AWS (infrastructure): your data is stored securely in AWS us-east-1
- Google Places API: place names and locations are sent to Google for enrichment (ratings, photos, addresses)
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: payment processing for in-app purchases
- Anthropic (Claude AI): video frames are sent for place extraction and are not retained beyond the processing request
Data Retention
- Account and trip data: retained for as long as your account is active
- Temporary video frames: automatically deleted within 24 hours of processing
- Deleted accounts: all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days
Your Rights
- Export your trip data at any time from within the app
- Delete your account, which permanently removes all your data
- Request a copy of your data by emailing privacy@savedtrips.com
Security
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256)
- Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito with secure token management
- We follow the principle of least privilege for all system access
Children's Privacy
SavedTrips is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through an in-app notification so you are always aware of how your data is handled.
